Classic Boba Milk Tea Recipe
Ingredients:
• For the Tapioca Pearls (Boba):
• ½ cup black tapioca pearls (store-bought)
• 4 cups water
• 1–2 tbsp sugar (optional, for coating the cooked boba)
For the Tea Base:
• 2 black tea bags (or 2 tsp loose leaf tea)
• 1 cup hot water
• ¼ cup milk (whole milk or any plant-based milk like almond/oat)
• 2–3 tbsp sweetener (sugar, honey, or condensed milk)
For Serving:
• Ice cubes
• Wide straw (optional but recommended)
Instructions:
Step 1: Cook the Tapioca Pearls
• Boil 4 cups of water in a pot.
• Add the tapioca pearls to boiling water.
• Stir gently, boil for 5–7 minutes (or as package says) until soft and chewy.
• Turn off heat, cover, and let sit for 5 minutes.
• Drain and rinse with cold water.
• Optional: Mix the pearls with 1–2 tbsp sugar or honey to sweeten and prevent sticking.
Step 2: Brew the Tea
• Steep black tea in 1 cup of hot water for 5–10 minutes (strong brew).
• Remove tea bags or strain leaves.
• Let it cool down or refrigerate for a chilled version.
Step 3: Mix the Drink
• In a glass, add ¼ cup cooked boba pearls.
• Add ice cubes.
• Pour in the brewed tea.
• Add milk and sweetener. Stir well.
Variations:
• Taro Milk Tea: Add taro powder or paste.
• Matcha Boba Tea: Use matcha green tea instead of black tea.
• Fruit Flavored: Use fruit syrups or real fruit puree (like mango or strawberry).
