Homemade Lemon Pickle without Oil Recipe


  • 1 kg lemons
  • 100 gm chili powder
  • 100 gm sugar
  • 50 gm fenugreek seeds
  • 50 gm turmeric
  • 5 gm asafoetida
  • 200 gm salt


Roast and powder the fenugreek seeds coarsely. Mix all the ingredients. Cut the lemons into eight pieces each. Take a clean jar and spread a handful of the masala at the bottom. Mix the lemon pieces with the masala and fill in the jar. As there is no oil in this pickle, you have to take extra care in the beginning. Stir it every day with a clean, dry preferably wooden spoon, for one month or so. It takes about two month to be ready.
