 Homemade Tamarind Juice Recipe 

There are lots of health benefits of tamarind as it rich in vitamin C, calcium, potassium and iron. It is good for diabetic persons and good for digestion also but avoids it if having sour throat. The green tamarind pods are dried to become dark brown and pulpy. They are then broken up, pressed into slabs and sold in packets.

 Ingredients

  •  A packet of fresh tamarind pods
  • 5 cups of lukewarm water
  • Sugar or honey according to taste (optional)
  • Mint leaves

 Method

  1.  Break off a small piece of the slab about the size of a 5-cm/2-in cube and soak it for 15 minutes in lukewarm water to cover it completely.
  2. Now after 15 minutes using your fingers squeeze out the pods to release the soft pulp, then strain and reserve the juice, discarding the stones and any fibers using sieve.
  3. Pour it out into a glass water jug.
  4. Add sugar or honey if you like sweeten flavor.
  5. Stir it with spoon
  6. Serve with ice cube
  7. You can garnish it with mint leaves.

Note: Ready-made concentrated tamarind pulp is also available and should be diluted with eight times the amount of warm water before use.
